Ok I thought of this topic the other day, did not post it waited a few re thunk it and here we go.
I googled/ and binged "FUBAR" we are page 4 on bing and page 7 on google. If you add other criteria we are a page one type thing. Not to shabby.
My personal definition of a good forum is an active one. Much to weeds dismay we are quite active lol.
I can honestly say I've read damn near every post now for over 1 year. Human stupidity stories usually only get a once over from me and are then ignored. Human stupidity is my paying job I get enough there.
So what I'm now wondering is what makes a good forum topic? guide? reply? post? What makes these exceptional? There are plenty of bad posts around here and we can ignore all undue negativity. Due negativity acceptable however.
"I have left out many of my opinions in the hopes of having an educational discussion" [FUBAR]Yoda :50: Opinions will vary keep an open mind.
I need to get better at posting!

- A good post title is very helpful and will get more people to actually read your post.
- Good posts get to the point quickly, telling you what the poster thinks using the least amount of words possible. Long posts are hard to get into and easy to forget.
- Links give people something to focus on when they are scanning your text.
- Organize your text. At the least, use paragraphs to prevent your post from becoming a wall of text. Use lists like this one if appropriate. Keep your sentences short and to the point.
- Most importantly, READ YOUR POST before you hit submit. If you can't be bothered to clean it up, a lot of people won't be bothered to read it.

-Admins that are on and constantly monitoring, but also arnt afraid to have a little fun
-Plenty of random threads that just keep everyone interested, such as our video thread (which is now dead *hint hint*)
-Members on the forum who arnt just in the clan, nothing works better than hearing peoples from other clans sense of humor, or just our pub players.
-At least 1 edumacated person who can be used to sort out arguments and give all the stupid conversations atleast some sort of rational sense (guess who?)
-Plenty of open ended fun to keep everyone from snoozing, for us it seems to be the thread with everyones kd's.
Im sure they're plenty more, and when I have more time to organize my thought more i will probably post again. Just wanted to get these laid out before i lose them.

Gentlemen, the topic is what makes a post good or exceptional. Lets focus less on the negative and more on the positives.
That being said I'm hoping Dr.Woo, Weed, and VanHelsing can add some positives because right now GubGub is kicking your ass.
Do not limit yourself to the body. Expand on what Tooms and GubGub have added. What off topic post get the most discussion. What makes a good guide. How to properly answer a trouble shooting question.
This would be a great time for some of our recruits to weigh in. I would actually like this to turn into a rather long and extensive post that will eventually need to move into a private section.

*glares at all the failers*
seem's like competition thread get the most attention.
ie: the funniest video thread, the KD ratio threads, anything with some sort of competition always gets the most looks.
just looking back at some of the other threads and...
highest views looks like goes to more personal threads, like personal thread.
ie: Verdicts "head on windshield" thread got a lot of views (so where all sadists? xD) and also outsider threads. Another high viewer was simply Alize's "wasup [FUBAR] thread.
O, and dont forget the post whores thread, just another competition thread for us all:)

First "good" should be defined. IMO it doesn't mean anything that would drive traffic. However, if traffic is what you want, lets look at what drives it.
Ironic, isn't it?
I have known this aspect for some time being the owner of a local community message board. At one time I allowed anything until it proved to cause strife and stupid mean people found it a place to spread their poison. Traffic was good. Now, hurtful gossip and stupid mean statements are not allowed, we get a handful of legit hits checking weather etc., and I am looking for another use for the thing.

Good is not really defined all that well, this topic is more of a way to express people's opinions on "good".
I to enjoy the occasional riled up topic, assuming it's not member vs. member. I think forums need a little bit for everyone.
TX for the post Death.
